Why we meet
Team rituals keep work visible and give you regular chances to ask questions. The ones below are a sample set for fictional Northstar. Schedules and who attends can differ by location, shift and role, so check the calendar below and ask your team lead which ones are expected of you.
The usual rituals (sample)
| Ritual | How often | Length | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stand-up | Daily | 15 minutes | Say what you finished, what is next and what is blocking you. |
| Planning | Weekly | 45 minutes | Choose the changes the team will take on this week. |
| Demo | Every two weeks | 30 minutes | Show finished work to the people who asked for it. |
| Retrospective | Every two weeks | 45 minutes | Agree one thing to keep and one thing to change. |
| Review hour | Twice a week | 60 minutes | Protected time to review each other's changes. |
Check what applies to you
Ask which rituals are expected
Ask your team lead in your first week which rituals you are expected to attend and which are optional.
Ask how notes are shared
If you work a shift that overlaps none of them, ask how your team shares notes or recordings.
Tell your lead about a missing invite
If an invite is missing from your Calendar, tell your team lead. Do not assume you were left out on purpose.
